Incised Caddo Style Bottle

Incised Caddo Style Bottle.  This bottle is hand built from hand dug native clay using a coiling method.  It was hand burnished and incised with a typical Caddo style design.  It was traditionally fired in a wood fire.

This pot is fashioned in the style of the ancient incised pottery of the Caddo Indians of the Mississippian period.  The original artifacts were made between about 1000-1700 AD. 

During the Mississippian period the Caddo Indians created a large group of interesting shapes and styles of pottery with intricate incised designs.  This tradition stretches over roughly a 700 year period. With more intricate designs being seen later in the period.

Size: 7.25 inches tall by 5 inches wide at widest point.
